Mansoura University ranks second among Egyptian public universities in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2026

Professor Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, announced that the university has achieved a new international milestone by advancing in the 2026 QS World University Sustainability Rankings. Mansoura University ranked second among Egyptian public universities and 613th globally, reflecting its efforts to integrate sustainability principles into its academic, research, and service systems.

The university president emphasized that this progress embodies Mansoura University's commitment to implementing the Egyptian state's vision for supporting sustainable development, improving the quality of university life, and strengthening the role of academic institutions in addressing environmental and societal challenges.

He noted that the university has adopted a comprehensive plan in recent years to enhance energy efficiency, expand green transformation projects, and support student and knowledge-based initiatives related to sustainability.

The university president congratulated the Mansoura University community—faculty, researchers, administrators, and students—emphasizing that this achievement was made possible by the university's efforts in developing its research infrastructure, empowering researchers, increasing scientific output related to environmental, social, and governance issues, and strengthening international cooperation and supporting academic programs connected to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Sherif Khater also affirmed that the university continues to support the transition to sustainability by expanding international academic and research collaboration programs, developing more efficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure, integrating sustainability concepts into curricula and research activities, and encouraging students to innovate in the field of sustainable development solutions.

Dr. Tarek Ghaloush, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, stated that the university's remarkable progress in the QS Sustainability Rankings reflects a clear strategy implemented by the university to enhance scientific excellence and support research related to environmental and social issues. This has contributed to raising its standing in international rankings, and he expressed his hope for continued progress in the coming years.

The QS Sustainability Rankings are based on a set of precise indicators that measure the institutional performance of universities across three main pillars.

The first pillar, the environmental pillar, includes the university's ability to manage resources efficiently, develop projects to reduce emissions, and improve energy efficiency on campus. The second pillar, the social pillar, encompasses the quality of education, measuring the university's impact on society, and promoting the principles of equality and social justice.

The third axis focuses on institutional governance, through evaluating implemented policies, the level of transparency, and mechanisms for empowerment and participation within the university.

This year, Mansoura University distinguished itself through its outstanding efforts in green transformation projects, the development of sustainable infrastructure, and the implementation of advanced energy and waste management policies, in addition to expanding student activities related to sustainability, all of which contributed to this international progress.

The university also continued to implement numerous community initiatives that promote integration between education, research, and community service, and support Mansoura University's leading role. This was achieved by integrating sustainability principles into academic curricula and scientific and research activities, and by supporting student innovation in the fields of environment and development, thus solidifying the transformation of sustainability into a practical reality on campus.
