Under the patronage of His Excellency Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Professor Dr. Maha Abdo Mohamed Abdo El-Ashmawy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and within the framework of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University's continuous efforts to enhance the competence of its graduates, and the Faculty's commitment to supporting its students and graduates and developing their professional skills through continuing veterinary education programs, and in keeping with the latest developments in the field of pet surgery,

the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University organized the first training course entitled "Fundamentals of Orthopedic Surgery in Pets," on Sunday, April 5, 2026. This course was the result of fruitful cooperation between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University and the Egyptian Society of Veterinarians for the Care of Small Animals (ESAVA). The training course took place at the Police Heights Equestrian Hospital.

The course was hosted by international expert Dr. Alexandros Bourbous, Senior Specialist in Orthopedic Surgery, DipECVS, FHEA, MRCVS, Senior Veterinarian at Stelios Vlachopoulos Veterinary Surgery Clinic – Athens, Greece, who gave a comprehensive presentation that included a review of the latest orthopedic surgery techniques, classification of complex fracture types, and how to develop specialized treatment plans for each case. The students and participating doctors had the opportunity to use advanced surgical equipment and practice fracture fixation techniques themselves, which contributed to the direct transfer of practical experience.

This event is part of the college's ongoing veterinary education program, designed to refine students' skills and prepare them for the job market with the highest quality standards, ensuring the excellence of Mansoura University graduates in the field of delicate surgical procedures.
