The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is implementing an advanced training program for veterinarians in the armed forces in the genomic diagnosis of diseases.

Within the framework of the cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - Mansoura University and the Veterinary Services Department of the Armed Forces, the Central Laboratory of the Faculty received two groups of veterinarians from the Armed Forces, over a period of two weeks, to participate in an advanced training program. Each group was allocated intensive training that lasted for two days, with the aim of developing their skills in using the latest technologies in the genomic diagnosis of diseases.

Professor Dr. Maha Abdo El-Ashmawy, Dean of the College, received the trainees and welcomed them at the beginning of the program, stressing the College’s keenness to support cooperation with state institutions and to provide specialized training that contributes to improving the animal health system and enhancing the capabilities of veterinary personnel.

The training was conducted by Professor Dr. Hazem Ramadan, Director of the Central Laboratory and Director of the One Health and Genome Research Project. The first day for each group included theoretical lectures on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) technology, and their applications in diagnosing diseases within the veterinary sector.

The second day for each group included practical training within the One Health and Genomics Research Unit, through which trainees were able to apply theoretical aspects and deal with modern devices and technologies, which enhances their skills in advanced diagnosis and genomic analysis.

The participating veterinarians praised the level of training and facilities available within the college, stressing that this program represents an important addition to their practical experience within the armed forces.
