Simulation of a safe evacuation experience for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
On Saturday, 3/30/2024, the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector and the Civil Protection Department in Dakahlia, implemented a simulation of the safe evacuation experience for the College of Veterinary Medicine under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater - President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim - Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Maha Abdo Al-Ashmawy - Dean of the College, and Prof. Mohamed Jabr - Vice President of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and engineer/ Rasha Al-Sayyed Ahmed - Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department, and in cooperation with the Civil Protection Department, Mr. Brigadier General Ashraf Galal - Director of the Civil Protection Department in Dakahlia, Mr. Colonel Yasser Al-Bardawil - Undersecretary of the Civil Protection Department, and Major / Mohamed Abdel Fattah Nour - Head of the Training Department. Civil Protection.
The simulation began with the college administration making a call about a fire, followed by implementing fire-fighting procedures by sending a fire truck. Then the entire college building was evacuated by following the instructional signs to reach the safe assembly points. The emergency team was called from the fire units, rapid rescue units, and ambulances to carry out the operation of rescuing some workers trapped in the college council hall.
The experiment aims to conduct a real simulation of fighting fires and evacuating people in emergency situations, with the aim of raising the degree of preparedness of building workers to confront potential emergencies by raising their awareness, preventing stampedes, and preserving lives.
