A delegation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University headed by Prof. Maha Abdo AlAshmawy- Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine visited The Royal Veterinary College at London University, and Liverpool John Moores University, in collaboration between both universities.

Under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Yousef Khater- President of Mansoura University, and Prof. Mohamed Attia ElBayoumy- Vice President of the University for Education and Students’ Affairs. The visit came in the framework of the mutual cooperation to create joint educational programs in undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University. Further, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Mansoura University has a vision to develop the veterinary educational system, and to graduate a veterinary doctor who is able to compete in local, regional and international market.

The meeting was held in the framework of the dean of the faculty’s initiative to create joint international programs with ancient faculties in veterinary education worldwide or in applied fundamental sciences in postgraduate level. Prof. Sahar Abdel-Rahman – Professor and Head of the Department of Virology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Mansoura University coordinated the visit.

It is noteworthy that The Royal Veterinary College at London University is considered the best third specialized college in the world and the first in Europe for the followed methodology that was explained during the visit. In addition to, the delegation inspected the scientific, theorical and applied lecture halls. Besides, the delegation visited the veterinary hospitals that are related to the university and the farms that are used in teaching for the students. Further, a number of important meetings were held with specialized scholars in putting curriculums with international system that guarantees high efficiency for the student and the graduate by using teaching methods that motivate the individual and university skills of the student. In addition, there are curriculums that depend on linking the academic subjects together in order to benefit from them in applied sciences field and solve various faculty problems. Further, these curriculums highlight the graduate’s capability to continue self-learning, raise the educational efficacy and continue the evaluation of the graduate with different ways that guarantee the good browsing, and correct and developed therapy practices.

The delegation visited the faculty of Medical Science at John Moores University College to discuss creating a special program for postgraduate students (M.Sc.) that depends on developing the curriculum of postgraduate studies in order to transfer it to module system. Besides, this system aims at increasing the research process outcome of participating in topics that help solve field problems, and the search for alternatives to improve the followed ways of examination and therapy.

Both parties agreed on cooperating in the educational process as well as doing equal researches among the immigrants. The student does half of the research plan at the laboratories of John Moores University in a period of six months, and the other half of the plan will be done at Mansoura University. Thus, the development of scientific research will be increased as well as finding solutions for the community programs, and raising the level of the scientific publication as well as the international ranking at Mansoura University.

By the end of the visit, all parties confirmed the importance of the serious mutual cooperation among the British universities and Mansoura University to starts the work in putting the bylaws of mutual international programs as soon as possible.
