A workshop titled (Risks, Their Assessment, How to Manage Them, and Ensuring a Safe Work Environment)
Under the patronage Professor Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the leadership of Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in collaboration with the General Administration for Strategic Management at Mansoura University, and in light of the university's policy to apply standard requirements in dealing with crisis and disaster management and risk reduction, a workshop was held to promote a culture of risk-based thinking titled: (Risks, Their Assessment, How to Address Them, and Ensuring a Safe Working Environment). The workshop took place with the attendance of Professor Dr. Maha El Ashmawy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and His Professor Dr. Mohamed Gabr, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, along with members and committees from the crisis and disaster management teams and the administrative structure of the faculty, on Sunday, 14 July 2024.
The workshop was held in light of the University of Mansoura's commitment to adopting a comprehensive risk management policy that ensures the safety of its staff and protects its physical and intangible assets, while also contributing to enhancing the university's standing within the evolving knowledge community.
The workshop activities included a presentation by Ms. Azza Mohamed El-Khamisi, General Director of the Strategic Administration at the university, and Dr. Mohamed Riyad Al-Bayoumi, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Department. They provided a detailed explanation of the fundamental concepts in crisis and disaster management and risk reduction, training participants on how to prepare a risk matrix, identifying different types of risks, methods for assessing various risks, and how to manage these risks. Additionally, they showcased risk record templates and facilitated a practical application for participants through group work.
Participants praised the successful organisation of the workshop, which concluded with a series of recommendations. Among these was the recognition of disaster risk reduction as a key priority for the university, as well as commendation for the university's vision in developing a guide for improving its crisis and disaster management system and risk reduction efforts.
