From the activities of the orientation week for new students: a seminar on “Services provided to empower people with disabilities and support integration within the university”
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Sherif Youssef Khater, President of the University, and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Maha Al-Ashmawy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Engy Fikry Risha, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nevin Abdel Khaleq, Director of the Center for Services for People with Disabilities, On Tuesday, October 1, 2024.Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Adl, Deputy Director of the Center, gave a lecture on the services provided to empower people with disabilities and support integration within the university.
The seminar activities included explaining a number of topics, namely: defining the Center for Services for Persons with Disabilities at the university, what is the meaning of the term “person with disabilities”, how to integrate persons with disabilities into society and how society deals with them, how to challenge and will to achieve success for them, the preference for using the term “capable with differences” and what are the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, explaining a simplified explanation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, what are the services and initiatives provided to them, as well as explaining the executive regulations of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, what is the vision and mission of the center, the formation of the center’s board of directors, what are the challenges facing people of determination, what are the services provided by the center, channels of communication with the center and the various educational, research and community services, the center’s role in supporting integration and the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the importance of educational integration and the center’s role in spreading awareness of the issues of persons with disabilities.
